Echidna Seq is a DNA barcoding service in Gosford, NSW, built to make DNA-based species identification accessible to everyone โ hobbyist naturalists, citizen scientists, educators, and researchers.
We use Sanger sequencing (through the Ramaciotti Centre at UNSW) with standardised barcode markers โ ITS for fungi, rbcL+matK for plants, 16S rRNA for bacteria, and COI for animals โ to identify your specimens to species level. Every sample gets a full report with chromatograms, BLAST analysis, and phylogenetic context.
We believe science should be something you do, not just read about.
