Echidna Seq is a DNA barcoding service in Gosford, NSW, built to make DNA-based species identification accessible to everyone — hobbyist naturalists, citizen scientists, educators, and researchers.
We use Sanger sequencing (through AGRF) with standardised barcode markers — ITS for fungi, rbcL+matK for plants, 16S rRNA for bacteria, and COI for animals — to identify your specimens to species level. Every sample gets a full report with chromatograms, BLAST analysis, and phylogenetic context.
We also stock mushroom growing supplies, DIY lab equipment, and electronics for the biohacker community. Because science should be something you do, not just read about.
